Sticky Roles
Somebody leaves your server and comes back later. Sticky roles puts their roles back automatically, so nobody has to remember what they had.

Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”/stickyroles settingsThat opens the control panel. Pick Sticky roles from the menu to switch it on.
From that point on, whenever somebody leaves, Codex Helper remembers their roles. If they rejoin, they get them back.
Codex Helper needs the Manage Roles permission, and its own role must sit above the roles it restores. Run /stickyroles settings on its own to see whether that is the case.
Read this bit before you rely on it
Section titled “Read this bit before you rely on it”By default every role comes back. That includes staff roles.
If you remove somebody from your moderator team by kicking them, and they rejoin, they get moderator back. Same for any punishment role: someone muted who leaves and rejoins comes back muted, which some servers want and others do not.
Put anything sensitive on the never-restore list. Open /stickyroles settings, pick Never restore, and choose your staff roles.
The Never restore picker reminds you about staff roles, and the main panel shows the list (or none) and how many people it is currently remembering roles for.
Do this for your staff roles before you turn the feature on. It takes ten seconds and it is the difference between a convenience and a security hole.
What never comes back
Section titled “What never comes back”Some roles are skipped no matter what you set:
- Anything on your never-restore list
- Roles that sit above Codex Helper in the role list, because Discord refuses those to every bot
- Roles owned by other apps, or Server Subscription roles, which nobody can assign
- Roles that have since been deleted
What is stored
Section titled “What is stored”One record per member who has left, holding the roles they had at that moment. It is overwritten each time they leave again, so the list is always their most recent set.
Members who left before you turned the feature on have nothing saved, so nothing is restored for them.
Up to 40 roles are remembered per person.
On the dashboard
Section titled “On the dashboard”The Sticky Roles page of the dashboard has the on/off switch and the never-restore list. It warns you before saving if the feature is on with nothing excluded, and shows how many people currently have roles remembered, the same count the Discord panel shows.
